Greg Anton (drums) and Scott Guberman (keyboards) met a few years back when Scott relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. Guberman loves Robert Hunter’s lyrics and reached out to Anton to see if he had any unfinished songs with Hunter lyrics. Anton has co-written 33 songs with Hunter and had a couple that had not been properly recorded, so Anton and Guberman started writing together. They were also playing in various live projects and decided they liked their new arrangements of the two songs enough to record them...The Anton/Guberman Project was born. RELEASE DATE- FRI, JUNE 12th

In September 2019 Anton and Guberman recruited renowned San Francisco Bay Area players Stu Allen, Mark Karan and Robin Sylvester, took the band into a top-quality studio (Prairie Sun Recording, Mooka Rennick producing) and came out with a stellar 2-song recording. Then they partnered with Telefunken Elektro Records, a subsidiary of Telefunken Microphones, known for producing the world’s highest-quality audio products. Nothing has been spared in this process to produce the highest-quality audiophile recording possible with today’s technology. The songs will initially be released on 45 RPM 12” vinyl with original cover art by Stanley Mouse.

“The music is so crystal clear, it literally jumps off the record.” ~Telefunken Elektro Records CEO, Toni Fishman.

THE STORIES:

JUST BECAUSE: Anton co-wrote songs with Robert Hunter for two stage plays written by Michael Mann. ‘JUST BECAUSE’ was a song that never made it to the stage, so to give it the honor it deserves, Anton and Guberman rearranged it as a rock ‘n roll song.

WHISKY’S SWEETER THAN MILK: Anton originally wrote this song with Hunter for John Lee Hooker’s last album. Hooker died before he finished recording it. Anton and Guberman thought it would be a perfect addition to this project and reworked this upbeat, original blues tune.
