Folk rock quintet The Lil Smokies release their cover of The Barr Brothers’ haunting ballad, “Even the Darkness Has Arms”. This release is the fifth single from the SnowGhost Singles, a series of the band’s most requested covers. Listen here. Streaming link here.

“I first met Brad Barr in a dimly lit corner of the campground at High Sierra Music Festival in 2012,” said The Lil Smokies guitarist and vocalist Matt (Rev) Rieger. “He was kind enough to share some songs and laughs with me in the early morning hours. I doubt he remembers it, but I carry that memory with me everywhere I go. There has been no greater influence on my career than The Barr Brothers, and no song I hold more dear than ‘Even the Darkness Has Arms’. It was my pleasure to record our humble take on such a beautiful story of hope, love, and doubt. I hope it offers you the same comfort that it has given me.”

The Lil Smokies release “Even the Darkness Has Arms” ahead of their West Coast tour and jam-packed summer schedule, which includes shows/fests such as LOCKN’, High Sierra, and Red Rocks and KettleHouse Amphitheater (support for Greensky Bluegrass). The band recently wrapped up a concert series at mountain resorts across the country in partnership with Subaru and Harman Kardon for Subaru WinterFest.
