Midnight North, the Bay Area roots and folk act, is very happy to release their new album, There’s Always a Story, made available exclusively on Americana Vibes.

There’s Always a Story was born out of a studio session with producer David Simon-Baker, but as the world shut down in March 2020, they were left to wrap the album individually, quarantined around the country. As the months ticked by, they let the rest of the newly written and recorded songs sink into their consciousness, so that when work resumed on the album in June, the entirety of it became better than anticipated.

"It's finally here! The seeds of this album were planted all the way back in the fall of 2019, and the hard work of recording and producing it has been going for over 18 months,” shared Grahame Lesh.

“There's Always a Story is a true collaboration between the four of us, and the process of writing and recording these 10 songs has thrown the door open to an exhilarating new era for this band. We are so happy that the world can finally hear these songs, discover new favorites, and sing along with us at home and on the road."

There's Always a Story represents a new chapter for Midnight North. Ten stories told through song, on their most polished album to date. The band tapped Jason Crosby, Marcus Machado, Allison Russell, Jennifer Hartswick, Natalie Cressman, Dave Eggar, JT Nero, and Scott Law as special guests who appear across the album.

Elliott Peck went on to share, “I believe this collection of songs is our best and most collaborative writing to date. What started as a startling halt to our recording process in early 2020, blossomed into a body of work we were able to sit with and develop with deeper intention. We can’t wait for you to experience it.”

In addition to the album, the band is very pleased to announce a hometown throw down at Terrapin Crossroads, September 3, to celebrate the release of There’s Always a Story.

2021 and beyond is a new beginning, and while Midnight North longingly looks ahead, hand-in-hand with the rest of the world, There’s Always a Story will serve as a collective and reflective narrative.

The band recently wrapped up an east coast stint, including a stop at the Relix Studio in New York City, a handful of dates that featured Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh, and dates through the northern Rocky Mountains.

More dates are expected to be announced in support of There’s Always a Story in the coming weeks.
