Today, North Carolina’s Mipso announces their headlining Fall Tour - bringing their distinctive and stirring indie folk sound, which recently landed them on Rolling Stone’s list of favorite bands at DelFest 2016, to over 15 cities across the country.  Mipso’s Fall Tour kicks off with two home-state shows - on October 7 at the Carolina Theatre in Greensboro, NC with special guests Silver City Bound and on October 14 at Charlotte’s Neighborhood Theatre with Honey Dewdrops opening the night. The tour heads next to the east coast with stops in Richmond, D.C. Philadelphia and others with special guest, singer songwriter Sam Lewis, and folk trio Lula Wiles opening shows in Portland (ME), Boston, and Brooklyn. After stops in additional southern cities including Asheville, NC and Martinsville, VA, Mipso heads to the Midwest for plays in Minneapolis and Chicago and wrapping up on December 2nd, 2106 at the Stoughton Opera House in Stoughton, WI.

Before the fall, catch Mipso at multiple festivals including Ossipee Valley Music Festival and Appalachian Music Fest and on a September Pacific Northwest run with special guest Sam Lewis. A complete list of Mipso’s currently confirmed shows is included below.

Mipso released their latest studio album, Old Time Reverie, in late 2015 to rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The record shot up the Billboard charts, where it landed at #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart and in the Top 25 of the Billboard Heatseakers Chart.  With songwriting hailed as “smartly written, hewing surprisingly close to gospel and folk while still sounding modern and secular.” (Acoustic Guitar), Mipso’s Old Time Reverie was named among the “Best Records of the Year” by The Guardian - for the band’s “aptidude for stunning harmonies” and for its “lush and moving songs that feel as fresh as a warm spring rain.”

With over 400 shows under their belt so far, and the permanent addition of band mate Libby Rodenbough, Old Time Reverie is a reflection of Mipso’s musical and personal growth.  Their gripping, mature sophomore release finds the quartet expanding their sonic resources while doubling down on their experimentation with string band tradition.

Influenced by the contradiction of their progressive home of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and the surrounding rural southern landscapes, Mipso’s Old Time Reverie dips in, explores and mixes the complexities of traditional bluegrass with modern instrumentation and smart pop melodies.  The result is an intoxicating, distinctly unique blend of modern day Americana.

Mipso is: Jacob Sharp (mandolin, vocals), Wood Robinson (bass, vocals), Joseph Terrell (guitar, vocals), Libby Rodenbough (fiddle, vocals).
