It's an understatement to say improvisational guitar icon Steve Kimock has been keeping busy. He’s approaching an East Coast tour with his newest band KIMOCK featuring his son John Morgan Kimock on drums and frequent collaborator Leslie Mendelson on guitar and vocals.  He just wrapped up a successful yet unprecedented mini-tour of Japan.

Although I only attended one night of the first annual Spread the Word Festival, I was able to go to two wonderfully unique venues and see over four performer’s full sets. The night started over at Your Mom’s House, which has a convivial history. The venue used to be called Pearl’s and it is located on Capitol Hill in Denver. It used to be a Beauty Bar, and it has reopened to accommodate many different vibes. I thoroughly enjoyed the service and feel of this first stop, especially after Wonderlic took the stage.

Hailing from Richmond, VA and formed by brothers Andrew and Johnny, The Trongone Band is set to release their debut LP, “Keys To The House” on June 30th via Harmonized Records. Drawing from Funk, Blues, Americana and Southern Rock, the quartet is rounded out by keyboardist Ben "Wolfe" White and award-winning bassist Todd Herrington.  The band plans to begin touring this month in support of  the album.

The seventh annual Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival will be held on the Green in Morristown, New Jersey on Saturday, August 19, from noon until 10:00 p.m. This year’s free concert has a Jersey link for four out of the five groups to appear.

Featuring highlights from the band’s Spring 2017 tour, the collection is the first installment of an ongoing live series. Produced by Dave King (Of The Bad Plus) at Echo Mountain Recording Studio in the band’s hometown of Asheville, NC.
