On Saturday, the third day of Wakarusa in Ozark, Arkansas, my morning began at about 5 am when I woke in my hammock being pelted with rain. Those who were still up, roaming the campsites like zombies, seemed to enjoy the cool rain dropping from the clouds. But me? I was tired and wet. Luckily, I managed to snag a little bit more shut-eye throughout the day so everything turned out alright.

When the threat of 50 MPH winds and impending heavy rain don't get you down - you know you're in the right place. And for a lot of people, that place was Wakarusa on Friday. There was meditation, reiki, dancing, gymnastics, upper level pools, amazing drinks from Zoe at StarWater, photo booths, fire dancers, activists, really amazing music (I don’t care if you saw the lineup and didn’t recognize the bands), beautiful painters and artists, and even a wheel to get spun.

Blending a unique variety of roots reggae, rock n’ roll, and electronic dub, Minneapolis-based trio Jon Wayne and The Pain brought their signature “Reggae-Tronic Dub” sound to the beautiful grounds of Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois this past weekend for an unforgettable performance at the annual Summer Camp Music Festival.
