Quite a legacy - but well deserved - for Sonny Fortune embodies all of the finest qualities of those late, great musicians: hard work, dedication to his art, and exceptional music. Lucky for us, Sonny is still here and blowing hard.The Philadelphia native (born 1939) has been on the jazz scene since his move to New York City in 1968.

Dark Star Orchestra is beckoning to the spring with Spring Tour West 2013 starting in Colorado on March 28 with a rousing 4/20 conclusion set for Seattle. Along the way we'll include shows in Denver, San Diego and almost a full week around the Bay Area, while visiting some of our favorite venues as well as new ones, including Club Nokia in L.A.

EOTO will hit the ground running with over 20+ shows booked for their 2013 “We All Ascend” Tour slated to kick off on January 31st in Boston, MA. The duo will be performing throughout Northeast and Southeastern states before heading back to their home stomping grounds for a short Colorado run and tour finale at 2720 Cherokee in St. Louis.

AURA Music & Arts Festival, taking place February 15th – 17th, 2013 at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida, has unveiled their daily schedule, available at the link below. They’ve also added the Brooklyn-based electronic duo Break Science featuring seasoned producers and touring veterans, Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee, and artist-at-large Adam ‘Shmeeans’ Smirnoff from Lettuce.

On the heels of a busy 2012, Perpetual Groove announced today on their website that the band will be taking an extended hiatus. All previously announced tour dates will continue as scheduled with the same live intensity and dynamic light show that PGroove have become known for. Their final show will take place in their hometown of Athens, GA at the Georgia Theatre on Friday, April 5th.

Nederland, Colorado’s Smooth Money Gesture gets back on the road this winter after a year of huge strides in 2012.  Playing over 100 shows in 15 states throughout the Mountain, Southwest, Midwest, and Northeast regions last year, they show no signs of slowing down.  Winter Tour ’13 will see them take their “Modern American Rock and Roll” sound to the Northeast and back with stops in some of their favorite cities and college towns along the way.

In its 26th year, Old Settler’s Music Festival is putting together one of its hottest lineups ever, but fans must act now to grab discounted ticket packages before they end on midnight Jan. 15. Single-day ticket sales begin Jan. 16 for the four-day bluegrass, roots and Americana festival, which takes place April 18-21 at the Salt Lick Pavilion and Camp Ben McCulloch south of Austin and features more than 30 acts.

Tour dates have been announced for acclaimed singer/songwriter Matt Costa in support of his upcoming self-titled album to be released on February 12 via Brushfire Records. Matt Costa was recorded in Scotland and produced by long-time Belle & Sebastian/Mogwai collaborator Tony Doogan at his Castle of Doom studio.

Coming to a dance floor near you, an infectious new track by the electro-rock duo BoomBox, who is set to release their new album in the upcoming year. BoomBox is made up of producer/DJ Russ Randolph and singer/songwriter/guitarist Zion Godchaux, who have established themselves as one of the premier late-night acts in the festival circuit.
