Fans of the “Father of Bluegrass Music” have a unique opportunity to own the rights to the name and likeness to Bill Monroe. Regarded as the man who started the format, Monroe joined the WSM Grand Ole Opry in 1939, and was a member for almost six decades – until his passing in September 1996. One of the few members of both the Country Music Hall of Fame and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Monroe’s musical legacy included legendary stints on Columbia Records and MCA / Decca, with whom he was associated for forty years.

Maybe it was the seemingly yearly re-occurring thunder storm that rolled through the festival grounds mid-afternoon Friday, soaking the grounds and bringing out the inner-child in the crowd as fans stomped through the puddles with their rain boots.

Emerging Los Angeles based rock band The Shelters' video for their track “Gold” premieres on W Magazine, who says “The foursome crafted a visual collage of Californian inspirations that isn’t short on the luxury.” The song appears on their self-titled debut album—out now via Warner Bros.
“Primus sucks” is the battle cry for Primus fans everywhere, and to this day, I still love seeing it bring confusion to faces throughout the crowd, outside in lines, and even on blogs, posts, and articles. This is what we say when we are stoked to see a Primus show. This was a special setting for the band as well. The Fox Theatre is small, but it is packed with one of the best sound systems in the country. It only holds 625 amped up and ready to mosh Primus die-hards.
On May 25, 2017, I packed up my car, picked up my brother-in-law, and headed to Chillicothe, IL for the annual Summer Camp Music Festival. However, I was not going there primarily to see Moe. and Umphrey’s McGee, along with a host of others, but to work a booth as a nonprofit. It provided a very interesting and honestly, one heck of an different experience.
