Hot Tuna performs spontaneous, unfiltered music whether as an acoustic duo or as a solid power trio including drummer, Justin Guip. It’s unfathomable how Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady make each show its own experience, but they do ... and effortlessly!

Veteran jam-masters, The String Cheese Incident checked into Eugene’s (Ore.) Cuthbert Amphitheater for a pair of reliably freaky shows, though the first night's performance was the juicier, more driven and musically intriguing offering.

Greg Loiacono will release his first full-length solo album, Songs From a Golden Dream, on September 23rd, 2016 on vinyl, CD and digital formats. With 11 new songs by The Mother Hips co-founder, Songs From a Golden Dream finds Loiacono delivering his boldest and most accomplished release to date. Songs From a Golden Dream is a baroque, electric work that hums and spits with energy even in its quietest moments.

American Babies is the pseudonym under which Philadelphia-based songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Tom Hamilton can be found creating his most personal and idiosyncratic work. Hamilton and his band will embark on an extensive U.S. tour this fall in support of their latest album, An Epic Battle Between Light & Dark.

Winding down a busy summer within the festival circuit, including performances at Mountain Jam, High Sierra Music Festival, Peach Music Festival, and coming up on a much anticipated debut appearance at Lock’n Festival,  Brooklyn’s Turkuaz is announcing a large scale co-headlining Fall 2016 tour with British funk band The New Mastersounds.

David Crosby is set to release his new solo work 'Lighthouse' for October 21st. Michael League of Snarky Puppy is Crosby's producer.

Posted on his web site Crosby declares that he has a newfound passion to create fresh, original music. “I’m tilted towards pushing the envelope,” he says. “I’m tilted towards making new stuff. I think I’m supposed to.” 'Lighthouse' is a collection of stripped-down, delicate and introspective songs that showcases David complex guitar work and is enhanced by his layered harmony vocals.

Wilco fans can have an early listen to the band’s forthcoming album Schmilco on Tuesday, Sept. 6, three days before the album’s official worldwide release Sept. 9. But it won’t be via an early online stream; instead, the Chicago band is showing its support for independent record stores — and the vinyl format in general — by encouraging fans to attend I Heard Schmilco listening parties at locations across the US and Canada.

Outside Lands is in its 9th year but you wouldn’t know to look at it. In some ways it feels like a brand new festival, while in others it’s clear that it’s far from amateur. The smooth operations, from getting fans through the gate without much wait to having eco-friendly workers to help navigate which bin to put your trash in (compost, recycling, or landfill), are just a few pieces of proof that Outside Lands really has their shit together.

A quintet of renowned Northern California jammy groups – Jackie Greene Band, Steve Kimock & Friends, David Nelson Band, The Mother Hips, and Moonalice – provided a nine-hour supersonic background on August 6 for a couple thousand bohemian yet genteel attendees at the 2016 incarnation of the Petaluma Music Festival. The proceedings had all of the markings and vibes of a big family gathering, which played out at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds amid beaming sunshine and comfortable temperatures that never rose above 75.
