Ben Folds will release his new album What Matters Most on June 2 via New West Records. The 10-song set was co-produced by Folds and Joe Pisapia (K.D. Lang, Guster) in East Nashville, TN and features guest appearances by dodie, Tall Heights, and Ruby Amanfu. What Matters Most is Folds’ first studio album since his chart-topping collaboration in 2015 with the string ensemble yMusic.

Ben Folds has announced additional 2022 dates for his “In Actual Person Live For Real Tour” of US solo piano and orchestral performances, kicking off April 1st, 2022 with a symphony concert at Powell Hall in St. Louis, MO, with additional shows to be added throughout the year. Folds, who spent much of 2020 and early 2021 in isolation in Australia because of COVID-19 lockdowns, returned to US stages in the Fall of 2021 to numerous sold-out performances.

“Woke up this morning, what do I see? Three thousand cameras pointed at me.” Taken out of context, the first lyrics Ben Folds sang at the Ogden Theater on Wednesday (from “Levi Johnston’s Blues,” Lonely Avenue 2010) made me feel a bit guilty for sitting at the foot of the stage shooting pictures.

As I said, I had gone back to camp earlier to make sure things were as secured as possible and to attach the tent to the car just in case I needed to sleep in there that night. Good thing I had.  I awoke about 4 a.m. to raging winds and wicked rain.  I seemed securely attached…for now. The wind was blowing so hard that my tent was beginning to lean sideways.
