It was that time of year again for the annual Bourbon and Beyond Music Festival in Louisville, Kentucky. This time in a new location, at the Kentucky Exposition Center fairgrounds it was 3 fantastic days of music, food and more!

Following Earth Day, the Great Bay of New Jersey’s coast will be the recipient of its very own serenade. Ben Sollee, an accomplished musician and proud Kentucky native, will be spending a week in one of the Northeast’s most pristine estuaries. Sollee’s stay is part of a series of songwriting retreats organized by nonprofit Sustain Music and Nature. The Songscapes program partners bands with public land areas to create new music inspired by American landscapes. It’s an effort to generate new audiences for our public lands and waterways while bringing awareness to the issues they face.

Chapel Hill’s esteemed indie Americana band Mipso and acclaimed bluegrass troubadour Ben Sollee and Kentucky Native co-headline a run of shows together in early 2018. Cellist-songwriter-cyclist-activist Ben Sollee is no stranger to speaking his mind, so two weeks ago, he climbed the steps of Washington, DC’s Lincoln Memorial, sat down with his cello and sang. The act, filmed by Mason Jar Music, was a call to action for US citizens to get out and vote. Now, as we reflect on the effects of superstorm Hurricane Sandy, and look towards the November 6th Presidential Election, Ben’s plea, for “A Few Honest Words” could not come at a more poignant time.

Tomorrow, Thursday, October 11, 2012, indie-folk cellist Ben Sollee will kick off the official 2012 Vice Presidential Debate in his home state of Kentucky. Just before Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan square off inside Centre College’s Norton Center for the Arts, Sollee and his trio have the prestigious honor of performing on the campus’ main lawn.
