Bobby Rush

In a remarkable fusion of talent and genres, the roots rock ensemble Brothers Brown has released their eagerly anticipated second album, “No Where Left To Go,” spotlighting the legendary blues singer Bobby Rush on its title track. This collaboration marks a high point in the group's career, blending an earthy mix of Americana with jam band sensibilities across thirteen original tracks.

Slippin' Through the Cracks, a new musical about the legendary bluesman Bobby Rush is currently in development. An invitation-only industry presentation of the new show will take place in New York City on Tuesday, March 7th and Wednesday, March 8th.

In 1971, Bobby Rush released the single “Chicken Heads” on Galaxy Records (later sold to Fantasy Records and Concord Music) and in the subsequent months it inched up the Billboard R&B chart, marking his first career hit. (The B-side was a track called “Mary Jane.”)

Louisiana music legends Bobby Rush and Dr. John, two of the most colorful figures in the blues, have known each other for more than 50 years.

Bobby Rush’s new Down in Louisiana, out February 19, 2013 on Deep Rush Productions through Thirty Tigers, is the work of a funky fire-breathing legend. Its 11 songs revel in the grit, grind and soul that’s been the blues innovator’s trademark since the 1960s, when he stood shoulder to shoulder on the stages of Chicago with Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter and other giants.Of course, it’s hard to recognize a future giant when he’s standing among his mentors.
