The Fox Theatre - Boulder

Introducing the world to a new and exciting all-star project consisting of some good friends from the Americana, jam, and bluegrass worlds. Please meet THE HIGH HAWKS.

No one knows where the train will take them. It’s one you jump on out of the curiosity and excitement of the unknown. The very wonder of what the stars and the spirits will conjure on any given jubilee. And what the hell is a High Hawk?

You instinctually hum a tune in order to get pumped up in the morning, for fuel on the treadmill, to soundtrack your commute, or as the pre-game to a big night out. As much as he treasures his roles as a guitarist, composer, and producer, Cory Wong fashions himself “a hype man,” first and foremost. Living up to this classification, he slings a Stratocaster and hurls “dad jokes” from the stage with the same panache, poise, and power.

Larry Keel is described by music critics and reviewers as the most powerful, innovative and all-out exhilarating acoustic flatpicking guitarist performing today. Keel has absorbed the best lessons from his Bluegrass family upbringing, both sides deeply steeped in the rich mountain music culture and heritage of Southwest Virginia. From there, he has always integrated that solid musical grounding and natural-born talent with his own incomparable approach to playing amplified, acoustic guitar and composing original music.

With Dead and Company playing CU’s Folsom Field this weekend we wanted to give out-of-town folks some ideas what else to do in Boulder before and after the show(s).

Sixteen-year-old Brandon Niederauer, nicknamed “Taz” for his ferocious guitar playing, is living proof that dreams really do come true. Having performed in some of the most legendary venues in America with many of the most prominent musicians of our time, the young guitarist, singer, and songwriter has already earned himself quite the reputation.

Mix Jojo Hermann from Widespread Panic with The Dynamites and what do you get? Slim Wednesday, the day after Fat Tuesda —Southern Psych-Soul. Straight out of a southern soul/rock/funk voodoo cauldron, Slim Wednesday’s debut full-length, "Reptile Show," jumps from jam to deep dish funk to New Orleans piano to troubadour soul to Toussaint-style gut bucket—a new sound of some old sounds that have come around!

SLIM WEDNESDAY

For any deadheads who may be making the trek to Boulder for Dead & Company over the fourth of July weekend might want to get to town just a couple days early..  The Fox Theatre in Boulder will play host to some groovy dead interpretations.  Grateful Web recently spoke to Shred is Dead guitarist, Marcus Rezak to tell us a bit of the band's history and how he became a deadhead.
