Grateful Web's 2012 Treasure Island Music Festival Preview

Treasure Island is a weird place. Named after the Robert Louis Stevenson book, Treasure Island was constructed (yes, constructed) in the 1930s as an airport. When that idea was scrapped, it was converted into a location to hold California’s world’s fair in 1939-1940. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, the island was converted into a full naval base. From then on the island was rarely used, sitting as a reminder of World War II to the many commuters crossing the Bay Bridge. In 2005 the navy sold the island back to the city of San Francisco, prompting a repurposing of the grounds.

The Inaugural Catalpa Festival in New York | Review & Photos

Festivals are always welcome in the NYC area that don't involve traveling to New Jersey (All Points West), electronic dance music (Electric Zoo) or taking a crowded ferry (Governors Ball, HARD Fest, Rock The Bells). So, it's a shame that NYC was not as receptive to the inaugural year of Catalpa, which was held in the convenient location of Randall's Island.

Wakarusa: 2012 | Day 2 on Mulberry Mountain

My day began a bit late on Friday. I would like to say it’s because I found a basket of kittens and was completely distracted...or that I was showering or something like that. But no...I got a late start because the moment I got to Wakarusa on Thursday...I lost my keys. I had to ride back to Fayetteville, whip up yesterday’s review and head back to Mulberry Mountain. But it’s never a bad thing to have to make that beautiful drive one more time.

Summer Camp 2011: A marriage of creativity & comfort, clouds, condensation, & climate confusion

The Chicagoland weather forecast for Summer Camp 2011 included the infamous 50% chance of rain and sunny skies all weekend long.  What we found were marriages of rain and shine, glamour and gladiator, nature and music all tied together interconnected.    If you buy into numerology, the answer is in the numbers here folks.  Last year we brought attention to the

Girl Talk | Ogden Theater | 3/11/11 | Review & Photos

Mash-up master Gregg Gillis, aka Girl Talk, didn’t give a concert last night at the Ogden Theater in Denver, he threw a party. Complete with balloons, confetti, a machine that blew streams of toilet paper through the air, and his own intricate brand of generations of multi-genre beats, hooks and lyrics blended together, he served up dance party cocktails to an eager, thirsty crowd.
