On the heels of the success of the Aiken Bluegrass Festival’s 2013 spring event the festival will return to Aiken this spring on May 9th and 10th, 2014. With an eclectic mix of traditional and progressive bluegrass, the 10th annual Aiken Bluegrass Festival promises to be the most exciting year to date. “What defines us as an event is our knack for booking bands that enjoy sharing the stage; friends who happily sit in on each other’s sets” says event director, Christian Schaumann.

Since their founding at the turn of the millennium, the five members of Greensky Bluegrass have fashioned a dynamic, intoxicating sound rooted in classic stringband Americana while branching outward to effortlessly encompass an array of styles and techniques.

If summertime is the only time you make it to a killer music festival, you must not be from Colorado. Live music is the lifeblood of Colorado’s thriving entertainment industry and the people want it all year round. Maybe one year somebody would be brave enough to host a winter camping festival, but for now, we have a few awesome concepts that are making the dead of winter a time to party at desirable festival grounds and see our favorite bands throw down a hootenanny.

Music fans in Western Michigan packed The Intersection in Grand Rapids for a New Year’s Eve celebration with Greensky Bluegrass. The sold out event featured the nationally-touring group performing a nearly three hour show including highlights of their original music, including over half a dozen of their new songs, as well as a healthy dose of covers. The appropriate highlight of the covers came when ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man” appeared and queued the lyrics with ‘white suits’ as the quintet donned white tuxedos for the entirety of the evening.
