When Lotus comes to Boulder, Colorado, the streets are just a bit more abuzz. People standing in front of the Boulder Theater are giving off a charge of excitement, and there’s a stimulating, magnetic sense in the air that tells us of what’s to come.

After nearly 10 years of composing and playing guitar and keyboards for the band Lotus, Luke Miller turns his experience and musical skills toward the DJ booth. The idea was to bring funk and disco back to the dance floor in an EDM world that sounds more and more digitized.

Lotus is offering a free download of  “Malabarista,” a b-side from the recently released album Build.

Fayetteville, Arkansas has seen a lot of different bands in the past few years. Its electronic scene is growing, as well as its jam scene. And really, all of its music is growing. So it’s no surprise George’s Majestic Lounge chose a band like Lotus to play at their venue. The band has played at this venue several times, but never on the venue’s new, much larger stage.

For the past decade, electronic rock group Lotus has been building a loyal fan base with their ever-changing blend of jam, funk, jazz, and recently more hip-hop style sounds.

Lotus releases its latest studio album, Build, today on SCI Fidelity Records. Built on a foundation of beats evoking vinyl breaks, house, and big-beat, the album is a funky dance party from start to finish. The unmistakable sound of a tight live band is at the heart of the album.
