Today, Painted Shield released their new single “Til God Turns The Lights On.” The group, which features Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard, acclaimed songwriter Mason Jennings, Matt Chamberlain and Seattle soul prodigy Brittany Davis, has announced the release of their second album Painted Shield 2 for April 22nd, via Loosegroove Records. Tickets for the inaugural Beach Road Weekend on Martha’s Vineyard August 9-11, go on-sale Friday, May 31th at 10:00 AM. The three-day music and media festival at Veterans Memorial Park in Vineyard Haven will feature performances by Phil Lesh and Friends, Grace Potter, Dispatch, John Fogerty and much more. The festival kicks off with a special screening of Jaws, with accompaniment by the Cape Symphony.

I started day two of 10K in utter relaxation, dozing late into the morning through a minute of light rain on the tent.  It was a music festival, after all, and the idyll didn't last long; the air was soon full of air horns and people yelling "Butt Sca-ratcherrrr!" (ah, the sounds of morning).  Overall, though, listening to the murmur of campers at Northwoods had a magical quality, a constant lone hand drummer in the distance, magical woodsy acoustics.  The morning was sunnier but still mostly overcast as I headed out to The Barn to catch Akron/Family<

I have to admit, I like to take an angle when I write. Often times, I will have a phrase or concept thought out, which may be developed into an introduction, even before I go to see a band. How can that be, you may be asking. Well, most of the bands I review I have seen before and I can figure out what to expect. But, last Sunday night's show left me dumbfounded.
