Yonder Mountain String Band

Long-time festival favorites and jam-grass pioneers Yonder Mountain String Band have joined forces with JamBase to present Yonder May—a weekly video broadcast of YMSB sets from the 1990s and early 2000s, culled from the band’s personal, fan-gifted VHS tape collection and hand-edited (yes, painstakingly cut and spliced, remember that?) and digitized by guitarist and founding member Adam Aijala. Airing every Thursday in May at 4:20 pm EDT, Yonder May will raise funds to support the entire YMSB team while not on tour via a “virtual tip jar” for Venmo and Paypal donations.

Jay Goldberg Events & Entertainment in conjunction with the Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee announce the Immokalee Bluegrass Festival, a FREE bluegrass music festival in the city of Immokalee, Florida.  The free festival will feature six outdoor concerts and an additional two concerts indoors in the casino’s Zig Zag Lounge after the festival concludes.  There will also be a large vendor section and a variety of arts and food trucks.

For eighteen years and counting, Northwest String Summit has brought fans of contemporary bluegrass, indie, funk, jam rock, and everything in between to the greater Portland area for what has become a highlight of the summer for festival-goers nationwide. Taking place in North Plains’ beautiful Horning’s Hideout, String Summit’s 19th annual gathering brings some familiar faces back to the festival and some widely requested artists to their first String Summit the weekend of July 16-19, 2020.

Falling in the middle of their 2019 fall tour, this September marked the 20th Anniversary of award-winning Colorado bluegrass band, Yonder Mountain String Band’s critically acclaimed debut album, Elevation. Out of print for years and considered by decades-long fans to be the band’s career-defining album, it only seemed natural for YMSB to celebrate this milestone with a 20th-anniversary 180g double vinyl re-release.

Leftover Salmon releases “Songs You’ve Left Unsung” as a tribute to dear friend Jeff Austin in his memory. The song was penned by LoS’s bassist, Greg Garrison, and is out now at Backline.care/songs-left-unsung. All proceeds from the sale of it are donated to Backline.

The Left Hand Brewing Foundation is proud to present two nights of Yonder Mountain String Band at Longmont Oktoberfest Sept. 20-21 in Roosevelt Park in Longmont. I have been blessed with the opportunity to share my very first Northwest String Summit experience with you all. I will do my best to honor this festival’s long history, while explaining my first experience, not only with this festival but at Horning's Hideout. This festival is in its 18th year here in Oregon, and it’s hard to think of another festival in such a serene location. That’s a whole generation of people growing up in this festival, which is something very unique and beautiful.

Jeff Austin's tremendous impact on our community will never be forgotten. So many family, friends, and music fans' lives were connected and inspired by Jeff, creating endless memories, both on the stage and off.

The Marcus King Band has just announced a fiery round of new performers for the third annual Family Reunion. Topping the bill for the expanded lineup are Colorado bluegrass pickers Yonder Mountain String Band, Charleston funk and dance players Doom Flamingo, multi-faceted performer Doyle Bramhall II, blues rockers Andy Frasco & The U.N., and more.

Throughout the years, few musicians have been able to curate raw energy, pure emotion and eloquent passion quite like Jeff Austin. The longtime mandolin player, frontman and smiling soul of Yonder Mountain String Band passed away, leaving a legacy of incredible music, memories and everlasting devotion to the bluegrass community.
