A pristine landscape undiscovered but by the adventurous few, there is no place in the whole of the United States better fitted for an event as equally unique.

The Wallflowers delivered an extraordinary and intimate concert at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara on October 17th, marking a highlight in this year’s 150th-anniversary celebration. Led by frontman Jakob Dylan, the band took to the stage on a Tuesday night before a sold-out crowd.

Rock ‘n’ roll is often hard to define, or even to find, in these fractured musical times. But to paraphrase an old saying, you know it when you hear it.

It took 26 months for the second “annual” BeachLife Festival to transpire, September 10-12, but the Covid-19-includes delay only strengthened the shindig’s vision and spirit to deliver a celebratory tip of the cap to the Los Angeles South Bay seaside’s musical and lifestyle identity. The weekend’s music exemplified many genres, but there was a decidedly distinct number of post-punk rock and alt-pop bands who first blazed their ways to glory in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s.

Jakob Dylan joins super producer Dave Cobb on Southern Accents Radio to discussed his new album, Exit Wounds, this past Saturday, July 10th at 4pm PST/7pm EST on Apple Music Country. He talks about working with Butch Walker on Exit Wounds, The Wallflowers' first album since 2012, how he picks songs for his albums, and how he decides whether or not they should be part of The Wallflowers or his solo project. He also talks about John Prine, making the music documentary Echo in the Canyon, and more.

The Wallflowers will release Exit Wounds on July 9th via New West Records. The 10-song set is their first album in nearly a decade and was produced by Butch Walker (Taylor Swift, Weezer). Exit Wounds was mixed by Chris Dugan (Green Day) and features the acclaimed singer-songwriter Shelby Lynne on four songs. While it’s been nearly a decade since we’ve heard from the group with whom Jakob Dylan first made his mark, he always knew they’d return.
