Forty Below Records announces the signing of the legendary “Godfather of British Blues,” John Mayall, and a May 13 release date for his first studio album in five years, A Special Life, distributed by Sony/RED. The new album was recorded in November, 2013, at Entourage Studios in North Hollywood and was produced by Mayall, with co-production, engineering and mixing by Eric Corne.

Gregg Allman has announced that The Allman Brothers Band will stop touring after 2014, so this year’s 10th Anniversary Wanee Music Festival performances could be the last time to see the whole group together with their current lineup, which includes Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes (who will also be appearing with their own groups). This interview has been sitting in my ‘need to write’ pile for longer than I’d like to admit. Honestly, I’m not sure my lowly English words can do this band justice. Their music seems part of my heart; some days it pumps my blood others it lifts me into smiles and dancing. There is so much meaning in each word Cloud Cult writes. They speak from experience and plug in the connection we have with every thing – this growing up we’re all doing together, every day, for our whole lives.

Recently, I read an online article arguing the inevitable demise of rock music. The writer saw fit to place the blame upon a variety of conditions, from the public unfairly judging bands by their looks (As opposed to their music), to band classifications and whether or not they deserve to be considered “classic”, to the topic of sexism in music, stating that it should be more appealing to the “fairer sex”.
