March 2020
At age 23 I was negotiating my first, real job, trying to balance social commitments, a tad self-absorbed, overly anxious and sadly eating apples and peanut butter with a side of cheese and crackers for dinner. We are incredibly saddened to share that Old Settler's Music Festival will be postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. Caldwell County officials have made the tough but right decision to prohibit public gatherings of over 500 people at this time in order to protect the health of its citizens which means that we must postpone the festival. The well-being of Old Settler’s community of loyal festgoers, musical artists, sponsors, volunteers and vendors is truly our first priority.

Stop. Just stop.
It is no longer a request. It is a mandate.
We will help you.
We will bring the supersonic, high speed merry-go-round to a halt
We will stop
the planes
the trains
the schools
the malls
the meetings
the frenetic, furied rush of illusions and “obligations” that keep you from hearing our
single and shared beating heart,
the way we breathe together, in unison.
Our obligation is to each other,
As it has always been, even if, even though, you have forgotten.
