Today, The Allman Betts Band released “Shinin’“ the second single off their debut record Down To The River (BMG).
“‘Shinin” is a song about how love and devotion can lift you up so you shine brighter than you could alone. It is a song about gratitude and acknowledgement that real love can take you to the next level. I had a few ideas that I brought over to (collaborator) Stoll Vaughan to work on in Los Angeles right before we started the sessions in Muscle Shoals for Down to the River. We wrote this late addition and it fit perfectly with the list of tunes we had already put together. I’m glad it worked out the way it did.” Duane Betts told Rolling Stone Country, who had the exclusive premiere of the track.
Down To The River was produced by Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price, John Prine) at the famed Muscle Shoals Sound Studios. Peter Levin (Gregg Allman's Hammond B3 player) and Chuck Leavell (former Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and current Rolling Stones keyboardist) make special appearances on the record.
The band was motivated by classic recording techniques, and the vintage gear in the historic Alabama studio, they cut the album live. No computers. No digital editing. They tracked nine songs on two-inch analog tape, resulting in their debut album.
“Shinin’” comes just weeks after a successful release of their first single and accompanying behind the scenes music video “All Night” - which exclusively premiered via Billboard.
The Allman Betts Band will head back out on the road after a short break amid their nearly 200 date touring schedule. The band is rapidly gaining a strong following across the country where they are performing to packed venues and selling out many of their shows.
