Boulder, CO-based electronic act BIG GIGANTIC will spend the upcoming summer making the rounds on the U.S. festival circuit in continued support of their latest album NOCTURNAL. Beginning May 17 when they headline the Hangout Music Festival’s official kick-off party, the duo will then travel around the country performing at top festivals such as Wakarusa, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands, among many others. (See below for full itinerary).
Following the festival run, BIG GIGANTIC will return to their home state to headline the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the first time ever Saturday, September 29. BIG GIGANTIC will transform the iconic venue into Rowdytown for their biggest show to date featuring special guests to be announced and a spectacular lighting rig. Tickets will go on sale this Saturday, May 12 at 10am MST. This comes after a very successful winter tour in which 90% of the shows were sold out, including a four-night run in Colorado. BIG GIGANTIC is currently planning a fall headlining tour (with dates to be announced later this summer) and is also set to return to Jam Cruise in the Caribbean Sea January 7-12, 2013.
Available as a free download via their website www.biggigantic.net, NOCTURNAL, released in January via their own label Big Gigantic Records, has already received over 120,000 downloads. With a provocative sound that’s as thoughtful as it is danceable, BIG GIGANTIC’s new songs like “Nocturnal” and “Hopscotch” weave whirling melodies into addictive beats and samples that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Kanye West or LCD Soundsystem single.
The duo will release an official remix this Friday, May 11 of “Do I See Color” by Adventure Club, their recent tour mates, which will premier on top electronic blog ThisSongIsSick.com as well as iTunes.
BIG GIGANTIC--saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken--leave no genre off-limits as they channel everything from funk and dubstep to house and hip-hop with their breakthrough sound. Formed in 2008, the classically trained Lalli (who received a master’s degree in jazz at the Manhattan School of Music) and Salken interpret traditional DJ-based music with live instruments and have successfully created an innovative, distinct sound that’s all their own. Their transcendent live shows are a showcase of brilliant improvisation and a tightly-knit bond between Salken and Lalli, who breathlessly alternates between keys, sax and laptop, building a futuristic wall of sound that keeps the crowd on its feet.
