Jon McIntire, former manager of the Grateful Dead and New Riders of the Purple Sage, was also a longstanding member of the Rex Board of Directors, continuing for the rest of his life as an active member of the Rex Advisory Board. On Thursday, February 16, 2012, Jon McIntire passed away. We want to honor Jon and the tremendous gifts he has contributed to all of us who have had the privilege and pleasure of knowing him. In early 2001, at the Board meeting to plan the renewal of Rex, we discussed our first benefit that would take place on December 1st. Jon said softly, yet forcefully, "This must be a jewel of an event, tasty in every detail!" Inspired by these words, we look forward to December 1, 2012 being a tribute worthy of Jon's description.
