Global Latin music superstar Carin León releases his second album of the year with Palabra de To’s. Listen to the full album HERE.
The much-anticipated album was recorded live in his hometown of Hermosillo, Sonora. The record, curated by Latin GRAMMY® winner for Songwriter and Producer of the Year Edgar Barrera, features 28 acclaimed songwriters, predominantly Mexican. The 16-track album was produced by Antonio Zepeda, Alberto Medina, and León himself.
In Palabra de To’s, León captures the essence and tradition of Aztec rhythms while elevating the roots and sound of each songwriter involved in the project: Edgar Barrera; Kevin Mauricio Cruz Moreno ‘Keityn’; LEXUS; Luis Miguel Gómez Castaño ‘Casta’; Horacio Palencia; Pablo Preciado; Nathan Galante; Diego Bollella Urtusástegui ‘Bolela’; Luis Ignacio Mexía Núñez ‘Luis Mexía’; César Iván Gámez Galindo ‘Iván Gámez’; Alex Hernández; Kike Torres; Tlaloc Noriega; Brandon Reyes; Alejandra Zéguer; Johan Sotelo; Omar Robles; Amanda Coronel; Miguel Luna; Esaú Ortíz; María Carolina García Ciodaro; Marlon Félix; Karen Daniela Mondragón Nava ‘Karen Moon’; Jesús Fernando Espinoza; Fer Ortíz; Gilbran Rosas ‘Gilbran Kran Rosas’; Gustavo A. Cota; and Óscar Alberto Hurtado Gil.
“The album's name came from a wordplay that emerged during a conversation with friends about our previous album series, Colmillo de Leche and Boca Chueca. We kept stylizing everything related to speech and the mouth,” shared Carin León about the production. “That's why it's called Palabra de To’s, which plays with the word tos (cough)—a disruptive, tiring, annoying sound—and creates a wordplay with todos (everyone), representing all the warriors and soldiers who have given Regional Mexican music a new face to the world and, most importantly, are making it relevant everywhere," added the singer.
For Palabra de To’s’ cover art, León draws inspiration from Leonardo Da Vinci's The Last Supper. In the image, he shares the spotlight with each of the album’s songwriters, paying tribute to the rich tapestry of Mexican music.
Palabra de To’s arrives weeks after León made history as the first winner of the Latin GRAMMY® for Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album, a category that debuted in 2024.
This Saturday, December 7, the singer wraps up a remarkable 2024 with a concert at Mexico City's GNP Seguros Stadium, where he will celebrate with his fans all the achievements of this year, including his third Latin GRAMMY®, his first GRAMMY® nomination, multiple RIAA gold and platinum certifications, and the overwhelming success of his Boca Chueca Tour. The tour broke records in the United States and made history in Spain, drawing an audience of 17,426 to Madrid's WiZink Center, setting a new attendance record for the venue’s more than 1,200 concerts.
