Daniel Rodriguez Releases Debut Single

Daniel Rodriguez, a founding member and lead songwriter of Colorado transcendental folk band Elephant Revival, releases his debut single as a solo artist today, “Steal The Night Away”. “Steal The Night Away” is the first single to be released from a forthcoming 2019 album and is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music. The release of the single accompanies the start of Rodriguez’s fall tour as main support for Portland band Fruition. Tour dates below.

With over a decade under his belt with Elephant Revival, Rodriguez is well-versed in the Americana tour circuit. Before going on hiatus, after their third headlining Red Rocks show in May 2018, Elephant Revival had released six albums and performed countless shows and festivals across the nation as well as overseas.

Needing to fill the musical void that might have become following Elephant Revival’s hiatus announcement, Rodriguez almost immediately headed out on tour as a solo artist. In addition to Fruition, he’s been chosen as main support for bands such as Mandolin Orange, Josh Ritter, John Craigie, and Birds of Chicago, and he has also performed at numerous festivals throughout the summer.

As a solo musician, Daniel Rodriguez, turns to his acoustic guitar for memorable, melodic hooks to accompany his poetic and contemplative folk songs. Boulder Weekly refers to Rodriguez’s voice as “a timeless folk voice, deep and hearty, weathered but comforting.”

Rodriguez wrote “Steal The Night Away” as an expression of the emotional journey he embarked on in the wake of a decade-long romantic relationship. “It expresses needing a sense of freedom while still desiring human contact. It comes from a place of wanting friendship, reflection, and counsel, without being placed or placing others in a box of expectations or projections. It’s a song about radical truth and being clear about your needs. It’s about helping and allowing others to become a more genuine version of themselves. It’s ultimately about exploration without judgment, and of course, kissing without contracts,” says Rodriguez.

“Steal The Night Away” features Fruition’s rhythm section: Tyler Thompson on drums and Jeff Leonard on bass; Lewi Longmire with “some integral and tasty guitar hooks,” as described by Rodriguez; Darren Garvey with his vocal harmonies, percussion, and synthesizer; and Erik Deutsch on organ.
