If you’re visiting Lewes, Delaware, making Lower Slower Delaware your vacation destination this summer, or if you’re a local resident, Rocking the Docks is the must-see music concert series in LSD this summer. The seaside venue is relaxed, the food and drink options are plentiful, and the grounds are expansive. There are amazing sunsets, and it all comes together for a perfect evening of outdoor fun and entertainment.
The July 11th Rocking the Docks concert featured Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel and a local Lewes, DE-based band, the Fitzkee Brothers. The date marked the unofficial midpoint of the summer 2024 music series. The Fitzkee Brothers' opening set was well played, and the band welcomed many of their local friends in attendance. For the final song of their set, Duane Betts joined in for a rollicking version of ‘Southbound’.
Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel played a set that included a couple of Allman Brothers Band fan favorites, 'Jessica' and 'In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,' a blues traditional 'Hoochie Coochie Man,' and several original songs. The musicianship was excellent, and the synchronized twin guitar work on both 'Jessica' and 'Elizabeth Reed' was flawless and outstanding. The band played a great show and gave the audience a rocking good time.
Rocking the Docks continues through July and into mid-August. On Wednesday, August 14th, Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass will perform right before the start of the four-day Mondegreen Phish festival just up the road in Dover, DE. If you’re coming to town for Mondegreen, head over to Lewes for the pre-festival Keller Williams show. Have some fun chilling by the bay, check out Lower Slower Delaware, and enjoy some great music.
