Today, Evan Honer released a new version of his song “Mr. Meyers” featuring guest vocals from Charles Wesley Godwin. The original version of the track has steadily grown to become a fan-favorite, with over 3 million streams to date, and appears on his latest album Fighting For, which was released this summer. A forlorn reflection on loss and melancholy, the new reimagined version provides the perfect canvas for Honer and Godwin’s flawless duet together.

“I first heard ‘Seneca Creek’ in 2021 and I’ve been a fan of Charles ever since,” said Honer. “I had the pleasure of hearing him open for Zach Bryan in 2022 and was blown away by his stage presence, energy, and how tight his whole band was. He’s got one of the richest voices I’ve ever heard and he’s been an inspiration for a long time now. To have him on this song means the absolute world to me. I wrote ‘Mr. Meyers’ in my car outside of my college dorm. This song means so much to me and I am so honored to sing this song with one of my favorite artists!”

“I’ve always been a fan of songs that tell a story, so when Evan approached me about singing on ‘Mr. Meyers’ it was an easy yes,” said Godwin “I think it speaks to a sort of universal fear that people have but don’t talk about much, similar to John Prine’s ‘Hello in There.’”

The second leg of Honer’s Nowhere Fast Tour continues across the US this month, with several dates already sold out while others have been upgraded to larger venues due to high demand. It’ll be followed by a batch of dates with Wyatt Flores in December, including shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Brooklyn Paramount, and Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway. Honer released his new EP Different Life just two weeks ago, which features four brand new songs and continues a busy and prolific year for the Nashville-based artist. Among them is the single “Scared To Love Again,” which Whiskey Riff called “an emotional tune” and raved “At such a young age, Honer seems to have an innate ability to evoke emotions in a listener through his lyricism in a way that very few artists are able to master.” Over the summer, Honer also shared a reimagined version of his song “Fighting For” featuring a stunning duet with breakout country star Hailey Whitters, prompting Country Central to rave “the collaboration works perfect.”

Available everywhere through Cloverdale Records, Fighting For follows the breakout success of Honer’s 2023 debut West on I-10. He has since earned a staggering 300 million streams worldwide with over 3.3 million monthly listeners, sold-out tours across the US and Europe, and millions of followers across his socials. Fighting For captures Honer’s whirlwind breakout success as well as all the excitement, challenges, and stresses that come along with it. Highlights include the “striking acoustic offering” (Holler) “Take Me As I Come” featuring fellow rising star Wyatt Flores, the vulnerable “heart-wrencher” (Country Central) “Easier,” the “autobiographical inner reckoning” (Atwood Magazine) “Nowhere Fast,” and the title track “Fighting For,” which People Magazine exclaimed “proves his artistic worth.”
