Colorado’s Elusive Ingredient (CEI), the largest and longest-running shadow cast in Colorado, has been delighting audiences since 2000, with roots tracing back to the state's first shadow cast performances. Over the years, CEI has become a staple of Colorado's cult film community, known for their vibrant and inclusive shows across the state. From the Historic Theatre in Estes Park to the prestigious Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver, and even setting the record for most seats sold for any shadow cast at Red Rocks in 2013, CEI's impact is unmatched.
As a modern cast, CEI performs at least monthly, with a notable increase in shows during Pride month in June and Halloween season in October. Regular performances take place at Studio Loft, with annual Halloween shows at the Pace Center and Boulder Theatre. CEI prides itself on being adaptable, able to entertain audiences in venues ranging from intimate settings of 100 to grand spaces seating 10,000.
CEI offers a supportive and safe space for the weirdos, outcasts, queers, grown-up theater kids, and all who love The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
