The Denver, CO based acoustic, rock collective Splitstep deliver a bright acoustic sound with their melodic choruses, musical builds, and heartfelt lyrics. The band has debuted two songs “Highway” in 2019 and “The Shoulder” in 2020 and now they are releasing their third song “Never Notice” featuring the Westword Music Award-winning Guerrilla Fanfare Brass Band on August 6

“I always love to collaborate with local talent on these songs to make them as special as they can be. Working with the Guerrilla Fanfare Brass Band was an awesome experience. I wrote the horn parts myself, but since I am not a horn player, they were able to take what I wrote, coordinate it amongst their group, and perform the parts with the texture and flare of a real, 5-piece horn ensemble. With their help, I think we were able to tap into the Dave-Matthews-Band vibe that people are so ready to fall in love with.” Says Golub.

When asked about the new song guitarist/singer/songwriter Matt Golub explains, “Never Notice” is about the modern struggles with finding a great relationship. Sometimes, the connection just doesn't feel right, and other times, the relationship ends too fast. Sometimes, you find yourself self-reflecting on the past and thinking about how things can be different in the future. Your friends and family always have their advice to give, but it's not always easy to implement their advice. Ultimately, dating and being single is a process where you can continue to learn about yourself and become more comfortable with who you are and what you are looking for.”

Splitstep consists of Golub, drummer Daniel Carrillo, and a rotating cast of local artists.  Outside of music, Matt is a medical student at the Anschutz Medical Campus and Carrillo is a well-known drummer in the local music scene who lends his talents to a variety of music projects.

For “The Shoulder” singer Ashlei Brianne joined Golub as the twosome seem to effortlessly blend their vocals in this vulnerable and honest song. Hear “The Shoulder” here

The melodic and guitar-driven “Highway” tells the story of someone traveling down life’s path -- reflecting on the past, living in the present, and unsure of the future. Hear the song here

The band is currently completing work on their debut album Kaleidoscope
