Today, electronic music innovator LP Giobbi releases her sophomore album, Dotr, via Ninja Tune / Counter Records. This kinetic and thoughtful body of work aims to capture a sense of home while constantly in motion, creating a 54-minute musical journey that radiates the comfort and warmth many seek. Across 17 spellbinding tracks, LP Giobbi confronts themes of loss, family, homecoming, and grief, showcasing her unique ability to transform deep emotions into danceable beats. Dotr is being met with major profiles and praise, including a 6-page spread in a recent print edition of Billboard, as part of their “Producers Now” package. LP Giobbi was also just a guest DJ on KCRW, shared a track-by-track album breakdown with Paper Magazine, and photos from her Life Is Beautiful set were featured in Rolling Stone.

Today LP Giobbi has also shared the official music video for “Is This Love,” with vocals from Danielle Ponder. It was directed by Kevin Lombardo with creative direction by Vince Coconato. Watch here: https://youtu.be/yClOJSw7Irw

To celebrate the release of Dotr, LP Giobbi will embark on her Way Back Home headline tour, kicking off in Durham, NC, on October 25. Her biggest headline tour to date, this fall/winter run will include stops at LA's Fonda Theatre, Oakland's Fox Theatre, Denver's Mission Ballroom, NYC's Great Hall, and a hometown show at Eugene's McDonald Theatre. She will perform 'in the round,' positioned at the center of the dancefloor, creating an immersive experience with the audience surrounding her on all sides. This setup fosters a deeper connection between LP Giobbi and her fans, breaking down traditional barriers and amplifying shared energy.

Coinciding with the tour, LP Giobbi will host listening parties at select W Hotels, where she serves as Global Music Director, offering fans a chance to connect and explore the stories behind the music. Along the way, she’ll also lead FEMME HOUSE workshops, part of her ongoing mission to promote gender equity in the electronic music industry. As the founder of FEMME HOUSE, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, she has empowered thousands of women and gender-expansive individuals through workshops, online courses, and scholarships. Since launching in 2019, FEMME HOUSE has provided access to production workshops, online courses, and scholarship programs to counteract gender disparities in dance music, where women make up only two percent of producers. The organization has previously collaborated with Alicia Keys’ She Is the Music and Emily Lazar’s We Are Moving the Needle. These upcoming workshops will offer hands-on learning and mentorship in select cities during her tour.

Named after her childhood misspelling of the word "daughter," Dotr captures the full range of life’s emotions, from its lowest lows to its highest highs. Created during 300 days of touring and globetrotting, the album finds LP Giobbi reflecting on her adult life while paying tribute to those who shaped her—both those still with her, like her parents, and those she’s lost. In just three months in 2023, she lost three of the most influential women in her life: her mother-in-law, Patricia Lynn; her longtime piano teacher, Carolyn Horn; and Suse Millemann, a family friend and the first professional musician LP Giobbi knew. Their impact runs throughout the album, woven into candid recordings and musical inspiration. Dotr begins in loss but ultimately moves forward with hope for the future.

The album includes joyful moments, such as her dad reciting a poem he wrote for her, celebrating her journey into womanhood, and a tribute to Carolyn Horn—the first song LP Giobbi intentionally wrote in a major key because Carolyn was a “major” influence in her life. It also features collaborations with some of her biggest inspirations, including “Bittersweet” with Portugal. The Man and “Until There’s Nothing Left” with Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes. The album closes with “Mama, Mama, Many Worlds I’ve Come Since I First Left Home,” a soothing outro featuring pianist Holly Bowling. This reimagined verse from the Grateful Dead’s “Brokedown Palace” reflects her longing for home and family amidst the chaos.
