On Sunday, September 25, the WaterWheel Foundation, Osiris Media, and Nectar’s Presents will host an event, “Celebrating 25 Years of WaterWheel Foundation”—with music, conversation, special guests, and more. From 7-10 pm, there will be interviews with WaterWheel staff and supporters, and three sets of music—including a full set of music played in tribute to the Aquarium Rescue Unit.
The music will feature Bob Wagner, Rob Compa (Dopapod), Chuck Jones (Dopapod), Adrian Tramontano (Kung Fu, The Breakfast), Josh Weinstein (Kat Wright) and many special guests.
In the spirit of supporting positive change, all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to WaterWheel. There would also be a raffle/giveaway for Phish and WaterWheel memorabilia. Tickets can be purchased here.
"We're excited to bring WaterWheel’s 25th Anniversary celebration to our hometown of Burlington, VT, and are grateful to Nectar’s Presents and Osiris Media for their help in bringing this amazing event to life,” said Beth Montuori Rowles, WaterWheel’s Executive Director. “In keeping with the spirit of WaterWheel's 25th Anniversary, we'll be donating the proceeds raised from this event to support efforts to clean up the Lake Champlain watershed, which is where the first funds raised by the Foundation were donated back in 1997."
“The WaterWheel Foundation has spurred so much fan-driven philanthropy over the past 25 years, and we wanted to celebrate this in the only way we know how-—with a combination of insightful interviews and amazing music,” said RJ Bee, CEO of Osiris Media. “Every time we bring music and conversation together at one of these events, it always brings out new stories and perspectives. And that helps to enhance the musical experience too.”
“Celebrating WaterWheel’s 25th Anniversary at Nectar’s?! That’s like peanut butter and jelly. It doesn’t get any better,” said Ed Maier, managing partner of Nectar’s. “And involving our good friends from Osiris Media is just icing on the cake. We’re really looking forward to a fantastic night of conversation, music, and raising funds which will help clean up beautiful Lake Champlain.”
About The WaterWheel Foundation:
Celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year, The WaterWheel Foundation was created by Phish in 1997 to oversee the band’s various charitable activities. Fueled by the kindness of the Phish fan community, WaterWheel’s mission is to create positive change by supporting nonprofit organizations based in Phish’s home state of Vermont, especially those focused on cleaning up the Lake Champlain watershed, as well as nonprofits local to each community where Phish’s tour stops via WaterWheel’s Touring Division.
About Nectar’s:
A long standing landmark on Main Street in Burlington, Nectar’s restaurant and bar has been the headquarters for thousands of local, regional and national music acts. From Phish to Grace Potter, from reggae to rock, Nectar’s Bar and Lounge is THE place to see live music in downtown Burlington.
The building itself has a long history of entertaining. Originally a savings and loan, the building was purchased to create a two-story restaurant/lounge called the Hi-Hat. The chandelier that hangs over the main room today is a relic of the grand Hi-Hat. In 1975, Nectar Rorris bought the building to create the infamous Nectar’s. The stage became legendary when a group of then unknown local musicians known as Phish began to play regularly, sowing the seeds of their enormous following. Since then, the room has become Burlington’s preeminent live music lounge, and the home of what have got to be the world’s best gravy fries.
