Pepper is excited to announce their new album Local Motion dropped today via LAW Records. Bringing the vibe back to their reggae rock roots, the new album is stacked with hot collaborations that will have fans diving deep into the full album experience. Exclusive DTC bundles, vinyl, and CD’s of Local Motion are available here (https://www.pepperlive.com/)!
Local Motion is Pepper’s 8th full length studio album, out on the band’s tastemaker imprint LAW Records. Local Motion pays tribute to the many days and weeks they spend on the road touring, and the relationships forged both with their fans and the music community alike. Reflecting back on the new album, Pepper comments, “We are f*#%king pumped and it’s contagious so get ready!!!!!”
Recorded at Great Stone Studios, Sea Major Seven, and their own studio, Kona Town Recording, Pepper took a more collaborative approach to production compared to previous releases. These collaborations included longtime friends Stick Figure, E.N. Young, and Micah Brown of Iration. “Working with the community on this album it led us to places musically we never would have gone on our own. You get set in your ways inevitably, muscle memory etc, so right away we were at a different starting point than normal, out of our comfort zone ready to grow, so the process of “Local Motion” was very different, and the end result sounds like us condensed down to our purest form, for lack of a better term. All the fluff stripped away so it really is an illuminated version of our essence which just feels and sounds right! It’s POTENT!!!” comments Pepper.
Standouts include the lead single “Warning” (Ft. Stick Figure) which has been hailed by industry magazine Billboard as this summer’s sound. Another album highlight, “Brand New Day” reminds the listener that our days are what we make of them. Accompanied by a video release, “Brand New Day” features comedian Alex Farnham who shows how a series of unfortunate events can turn any disaster into a beautiful day. Watch the new video here: https://youtu.be/RbJQmnQ8brM. And “Candy” is a sweetly dark love song about wanting something so sweet but knowing that the temptation might not be worth it in the end.
The So. Cal based trio is comprised of Kaleo Wassman (Vocals, Guitar), Bret Bollinger (Bass, Vocals), and Yesod Williams (Drums, Vocals). For 20+ years they have been touring and producing records, and with their dedicated fan base support, Pepper has expanded their brand to include wine (https://www.winebosslounge.com/pepper-wine-order-here) and a tasty cannabis strand “Hawaiian Pepper” (https://weedmaps.com/). They are one of the few bands that can claim all three original bandmates since their formation in 1997. Pepper grew a cult following when they were propelled into the forefront of the punk, rock, and reggae scenes while touring with the iconic Van’s Warp Tour. Recently they performed a killer set at the California Roots Festival where they sold-out of their limited edition Local Motion vinyl record only sold during their meet and greet. Today they continue to headline major festivals and sold out shows across the country.
Currently, they are on tour with Iration through this summer. They hit the road on July 11th in Oklahoma City, where they will continue to amazing and dazzle fans with their comedic banter and fun loving performance. Pepper will bring their full energy and So. Cal. vibes to the stage, performing hits alongside new material.
