The group won third place in the 2015 Rockygrass Band Competition and has performed for fans at a growing number of notable bluegrass, Americana, and folk festivals. Lead singer, flat-pick guitarist and songwriter, Jes Raymond, founded the band while earning her Bachelor of Arts (concentration, Music & Mythology) from The Evergreen State College in Seattle, Wash. Her band mates, equally accomplished, include Jakob Breitbach (fiddle), Daniel Ullom (mandolin), Forrest Marowitz (upright bass), and Alex Genova (banjo).
The band’s latest album, Three Red Feathers (Aug. 28, 2015), is a collection of original songs that play on themes of impermanence and imperfection, including “Little White Sin” and “Lady Of The Mountains.”
And then, there’s the delightful title track, which beckons us all to get on with the work we’re put here to do. For these hot pickers, that work is sharing their music with you. For more information, visit theblackberrybushes.com.
