Peak
We recently sat down with guitarist Jeremy Hilliard and keyboardist Johnny Young from the emerging jam rock band PEAK. This indie psychedelic jam quartet is based in Brooklyn, NY, and gig around the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Their sound is described as mix of poetic, melodic songwriting coupled with moody electro-funk, riffed-out blues-rock, and exploratory yet danceable improvisations. Their other members include drummer Kito Bovenschulte (Particle) and bassist Josh T. Carter (Hayley Jane and The Primates).
The Magic Beans celebrated 4/20, the relatively new, legalized cannabis holiday in New York state, last Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Sultan Room in Brooklyn, NY. Nestled in the vibrant Bushwick neighborhood, the sweet smells of THC were omnipresent this evening all around the venue. The Beans kicked the festivities up a notch with a Steely Dan parody, along with their catalog of jam rock, funk, r&b and hip hop originals.
The Boston, Mass based power trio Lespecial delivered their signature blend of "heavy future grooves" at the Gramercy Theatre in New York, NY last Saturday night. Their performance included a full set dedicated to Primus, where they covered "Frizzle Fry." They were supported by the jam rock quartet, Peak.

The Brooklyn-based four-piece features members of well-known bands including Particle, Hayley Jane & The Primates, and Turbine. Together, they form the powerhouse that is PEAK. PEAK has spent the majority of 2020 focused on writing, rehearsing, and recording an album in their hometown studio. In October they invited videographer, MKDevo and lighting designer, Matt Calabrese to capture some of the magic that has happened.
