Genre definition is so overrated. Whether it be film, music, or art, it seems like everything has mated nowadays, making for an integrated fusion of a once duality or whatever. Really it just sounds pretentious. It seems like many artists in the music industry are marginalized into “pitching” their sound or concept to record labels, audiences, or promoters. I can only imagine the headache of trying to define your band’s “sound”.

Progressive, groundbreaking bluegrass quintet, The Infamous Stringdusters have announced dates for their anticipated fall tour, in support of their self-released, fourth studio album, Silver Sky (High Country Recordings). Paste Magazine praised the album, saying, "Though known for their raucous live performances, the band’s collective energy comes through in a big way on the new LP, particularly on the lead track, “Don’t Mean Nothin’”.
And now for something a little different. This year's box set - Grateful Dead: Spring 1990 - offers six complete shows from the epic spring '90 tour, one concert from each city the band played, personally selected by Dead vaultmeister and archival release producer David Lemieux.

Award-winning mandolinist and music producer David Grisman announced today the HD release of the 1991 Grammy-nominated Garcia/Grisman album, as well as Garcia/Grisman - Alternate. This new edition of Garcia/Grisman celebrates the 70th birthday of the late Jerry Garcia, and contains the original nine tracks in the high-definition (24 bit, 96 khz) format. The second album contains nine previously-unreleased alternate takes, also in high-definition.
