Putumayo, the label behind some of the world’s most loved music compilations, is pleased to release the newest albums in their American roots music series today, June 18th, 2013. Acoustic America, and companion children’s album American Playground, offer an acoustic taste of North America’s rich musical heritage. With the release of these albums, Putumayo also celebrates their two-decade long history of presenting diverse musical offerings from around the world.

Ray Manzarek and Roy Rogers have received no shortage of kudos since they first recorded together five years ago. Ray Manzarek’s signature keyboard sound was a cornerstone of The Doors - one of the most iconic rock bands of the 60’s. An inductee into the R&R Hall of Fame - he certainly needs no introduction. In the pantheon of music, The Doors’ music continues to be one of the most revered rock song catalogs of any band.

A passionate fan base and strong environmental commitment propelled Fruition as winners of a first-ever contest designed to reward up-and-coming bands with the resources needed to go green on tour. The Portland-based group won the Brita Bottle Free Bands contest, an effort to encourage environmentally friendly touring created by water-filtration company Brita and environmental non-profit REVERB.

Upon first listening to Caroline Rose’s America Religious (releasing July 2), I found it fresh and catchy. On my second listen, I settled in and it opened up to me – or I to it. In the lyrics I found political and social commentary nestled into the metaphors, and a little bit more of a lead foot as I drove down the road. I found a friend in her music; one who thinks similarly to me and who cares about the big picture and all its little breath-beings.
