In less than ten years, Pennsylvania alt-grass group Mason Porter has built an honest following. Genuine musical expression and staying true to one’s roots can be challenging when critics marginalize through categorizing and genre labeling. It seems as if the quintet isn’t really bothered by anybody else’s opinion on what type of music they play, or could be playing. Their authenticity has won over a loyal family of fans.

What a magical weekend it was indeed at the Dark Star Jubilee. Each year is just as good as the last if not better. I had the honor of attending this festival for the fourth year in a row out at Legend Valley, Ohio over Memorial Day weekend. There are so many positive things to be said about this festival. It is a world of its own filled with beautiful music, positive people, smiles in every direction, and of course Grateful Dead Tunes.

Best known as the Emmy-nominatd makers to the hit FX drama JustifiedGangstagrass is now back with its fourth official album, the aptly-titled,American Music.  Released in April 2015, American Music has done what no other Gangstagrass album has done before, charting on Billboard for the first time.  Reaching Number 5 on the Bluegrass Charts, American Music debuted on the charts in only its first week of release.

Capitol Hill Block Party (CHBP) today announced the full lineup for the 2015 festival, including notable additions Father John Misty and Girlpool, as well as the availability of single day tickets and two-day passes beginning at 9 a.m.
