Noise Pop Festival is excited to announce an expanded music lineup as the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier independent music and arts festival returns for its 29th year on February 21-27, 2022. Festival badges are on sale now with individual concert tickets becoming available for purchase this coming Friday, January 14 at 10 a.m. PT at www.noisepopfest.com.
After previously announcing more than 40 acts to the 2022 lineup earlier this fall, local festival organizers have returned with even more exciting up-and-coming and underground artists locked in to perform as well as some of the most sought-after musicians touring today. Notable standouts on the initial music lineup included intimate sets from Alex G and Dorian Electra; plus Bay Area homegrown acts like King Woman and Papercuts; and several extra memorable shows including The Microphones' first Bay Area performance in 20 years, Titus Andronicus celebrating the (belated) 10th anniversary of The Monitor, and The Drums performing their classic album Portamento.
New music additions revealed today include a headlining set from legendary singer/songwriter Jeff Tweedy of the band Wilco, who will perform at The Fillmore to kick off the week-long celebration of music on Monday, February 21; as well as the oft-outspoken and internationally acclaimed emcee Azealia Banks, who will help close out the 2022 Festival on Sunday night. This concert is preceded by a special afternoon event on that same Sunday, February 27 featuring San Francisco’s very own and accomplished skateboarder-turned-music producer Tommy Guerrero, who will be hosting an afternoon BBQ grill-out while performing a Sunday matinee show.
Other additions include critically beloved UK producer and musician Kamaal Williams, who most recently played in SF at the 2019 edition of Noise Pop Festival; LA-based pianist and producer John Carroll Kirby, who is perhaps best known for his work supporting superstars like Frank Ocean, Solange, Norah Jones, and Miley Cyrus; Chinese-Japanese-American hyperpop meme-queen Lil Mariko; pop-synth songstress and producer Uffie; rising Atlanta-based rapper Bali Baby; and LA-based electronic producer Lara Sarkissian, who is also the founder of one of Oakland's most beloved music collectives called Club Chai; along with several more acts with Bay Area ties such as Lalin St. Juste, Experimental Housewife, Boy Scouts, and Provoker.
Several international acts have also been tapped to perform at next year’s festival, each of whom is performing for their very first time in the SF Bay Area. These acts include Irish-Scottish experimentalist Sega Bodega who just released his first two albums in back-to-back years to critical acclaim; Lastlings, an Australian electronic pop duo, led by siblings Amy and Josh Dowdle; Brazilian-Norwegian jazz singer/songwriter Charlotte Dos Santos; and Montreal-based electro-acoustic, multi-instrumentalist Ouri, who is opening for Arooj Aftab, a singer and composer with Pakistani roots that is currently nominated for the Best New Artist and Best Global Music Performance at the 2022 GRAMMY Awards.
Noise Pop will also soon host the North American festival stage debut for HE.SHE.THEY. on Saturday, February 26 at Public Works. HE.SHE.THEY. is an international event series, fashion house, and record label with diversity and inclusion in the DNA of everything it does with the belief that through representation, spaces can and should be made welcoming to people of all races, sexualities, gender identities, and beyond. 2022 festival performers include VTSS, LSDXOXO, and India Jordan, although former guest DJs at their parties have included the likes of Maya Jane Coles, Honey Dijon, and Ellen Allien as the event has taken over spaces globally from Berlin to Mumbai and everywhere in between.
Following the success of past collaborations, Noise Pop has also partnered once again with SFJAZZ to host a series of intimate concerts on February 24 through 27 inside the Joe Henderson Lab. Performers will include jazz pianists Connie Han and The Damani Rhodes Experience, as well as Oakland’s own jazz vocalist Valerie Troutt. SFJAZZ and festival organizers are also working together to co-present a special concert with performances from Moor Mother and Irreversible Entanglements at The New Parish in Oakland on Wednesday, February 23.

In just a few short weeks, Noise Pop Festival will soon once again transform the greater SF Bay Area into sprawling festival grounds as multiple events take place nightly over the course of a week including music performances, art shows, film screenings, happy hours, after-hour parties, and more.
