Critically-acclaimed recording artist Nathan Stanley is excited for the release of his breathtaking new Country single, “Sandy Ridge Wind” (download and/or stream it HERE). Its lyrics reminisce on relatives of the iconic family who have passed, including the Dove winner’s Grandfather Dr. Ralph Stanley. It’s the lead single from a very special collection dropping this spring called Nathan Stanley Live!
“Sandy Ridge Wind” is a tune that was written by Kerry Belcher, with Nathan’s story heavily influencing the recording. Its lyrics detail visiting the grave and memorial area of Dr. Ralph, Carter and other Stanley family members who are no longer with us. It also includes a chilling line about Nathan’s future grave as well, which is a part of the site. All along, the sandy ridge wind is what helps the Grammy-nominated singer remember all of the years spent with his family and brighter days.
The new single is the first taste of what fans can expect on the upcoming traditional Country album Nathan Stanley Live! In total, the project features 16 total songs - 12 live recordings and four new studio cuts. The must-hear live tracks were captured during a SOLD-OUT show in Clintwood, Virginia at the Jettie Baker Center. The new studio tracks including “Sandy Ridge Wind” were recorded at Maggard Sound Studios in Big Stone Gap which is where the majority of Dr. Ralph's music was made from the 1970s through the 2000s. This marks Nathan’s tenth overall album, with his music beginning at a very young age of two-years-old debuting at the legendary Grand Ole Opry, where he played the spoons alongside Dr. Ralph Stanley and The Clinch Mountain Boys.
Nathan has also kept busy hosting his own radio show. The Nathan Stanley Radio Show airs from 7-11pm ET each Monday evening on 93.5 WAXM. The station is a 50,000 watt powerhouse Country station which also includes a massive online audience tuning in from more than 8 different countries around the globe.
