The song was written in 2019 and produced by frontman JJ Julius Son, Shawn Everett (The Killers, Kacey Musgraves, Alabama Shakes), and Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Marcus King, Sierra Ferrell). It was released in the wake of the weekend’s tragic events where an innocent bystander was killed during the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. For the band, the track serves as a reflection on the recurring themes of mass shootings and overall gun violence that occur across America. KALEO will be donating a portion of the proceeds from “USA Today” to gun violence prevention organization Everytown and strongly urges its fans to join the movement. After yet another act of senseless gun violence at the recent Pennsylvania rally, we felt compelled to speak out and release this song. We’re hopeful that this moment will change everything and we all will acknowledge the need to institute common sense gun safety laws in America. Our hearts go out to the family of the innocent victim that died this weekend, and to anyone who has been touched by such nonsensical violence here or around the globe.”
