Music and Event Management Inc. announced today the initial lineup with over 30 acts for the 16th-annual Midpoint Music Festival (MPMF), set to take place September 23-25, 2016 in the Eastern part of Cincinnati’s historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, next to the Main street entertainment district near 12th and Sycamore streets.
MPMF will feature over 60 local, regional, national and internationally recognized acts including a diverse mix of up-and-coming artists and bands as well as some of the biggest names to ever hit the MPMF stage. Four stages will be set up as part of the event in parking lots in Over-the-Rhine, three of which will be ticketed, and one stage will be accessible to the public to enjoy at no cost.
Initial 2016 Artist Lineup: The first wave of artists for the 2016 event include Band Of Horses, Future Islands, JJ Grey & Mofro, Wolf Parade, Reggie Watts, Lucero, Frightened Rabbit, Houndmouth, Kamasi Washington, Bob Mould, Nada Surf, Josh Ritter, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, The Mountain Goats, The Wood Brothers, Tokyo Police Club, Car Seat Headrest, Antibalas, Langhorne Slim, The Budos Band, Russian Circles, Elephant Revival, AJJ, The James Hunter Six, Aloha, Joan of Arc, Helms Alee, The World is a Beautiful Place…, Into It. Over It., Lucy Dacus and more. A second wave of artists will be announced later in the summer.
“We cannot wait to see the transformation of this part of the neighborhood in September,” said Rick McCarty, festival organizer. “We are very excited to help continue the growth of this festival with a more diverse line up and immersive experience in Over-The-Rhine. The new location and layout should create an amazing weekend.”
The experience and getting around: The Midpoint Music Festival will transform the historic and vibrant Over-The-Rhine area into a walkable and immersive all-day musical festival experience for people of all ages. The event will also feature some of Cincinnati’s top local restaurant and craft beer vendors and the city’s top artisan flavors, all adding to the inclusive atmosphere. Whether attendees travel to the event in their car, on foot, by bicycle, or using the new Cincinnati Streetcar, organizers encourage all festivalgoers to experience the festival as well as the resurgent surrounding neighborhood that has enjoyed a true renaissance over the past several years. Over-The-Rhine is one of Cincinnati’s most popular destinations for both locals and out-of-town visitors.
Tickets: Three-day passes are on sale this Friday, June 10 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased for only $99 at the Taft Theatre Box Office, the Riverbend Music Center Box Office, MPMF.com and Ticketmaster.com (plus applicable fees online, no service fees if purchased at a box office). VIP tickets will also be available for purchase for $140, and holders get an enhanced experience with the ability to receive access to a catered V.I.P. reception area each evening, with complimentary food, a private bar and private restrooms.
