Following up a successful self-titled debut album, Denver-based 5-piece jamgrass band, Morsel, have announced the release of On a Bee Line, their second album on the Americana Vibes label produced by GRAMMY-award winner Chris Pandolfi of The Infamous Stringdusters. The lead single “Rollin’ Down the Road” is available now presenting a merger between blues, country, and beyond, leaving listeners anticipating a colorful sonic palate by the rising band on the bluegrass circuit. On a Beeline will be released on September 29, 2023.
Formed during their college years at the University of Colorado Boulder, Morsel has had “Rollin’ Down the Road” in the can for a while and is eager to reveal the studio version to both longtime fans and a new audience. Dobroist and vocalist Evan Hoatson details, “I wrote this song about 8 years ago while in college, as I was incredibly into the blues and starting to actually enjoy listening to country music. This was somewhat of me trying to blend the two genres together. I was a tad reluctant to bring it to the band so many years later but was incredibly delighted with the new life they brought to it with the overall groove brought by Adam’s drumming and Ricky’s guitar playing. This song has now become a staple in our live shows.”
The band has gained has cultivated a robust following in the Front Range area in Colorado solidifying headline shows hometown venues such as Boulder Theater and The Fox Theater and supporting the likes of Molly Tuttle, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, and Yonder Mountain String Band. On a Bee Line opens up the next chapter for the band as it illustrates the group's powerful songwriting that is its true soul: a cornucopia of catchy hooks, shimmering melodies, and thoughtful lyrics all delivered in a package that will make the most ardent bluegrass skeptic a believer.
