SnowGlobe Music Festival returned this past weekend to California’s breathtaking Sierra Nevada Mountains to host the country’s largest outdoor New Year’s music festival. With 50 groundbreaking artists performing on multiple stages over 3 nights, the sold out 6th annual event hosted 60,000 attendees throughout the weekend. The newly-expanded festival site at Bijou Park on Lake Tahoe Community College campus offered expanded gathering areas, unique art installations, Big Air ski and snowboard showcases between Main Stage sets, firework displays and more.
Chart-toppers The Chainsmokers, Australian sensation Flume, and trap heavy-hitter RL Grime kicked-off the 3-day festival on Thursday, December 29th. Dedicated SnowGlobe-ers packed the gates outside the festival, anticipating the start of a weekend full of music from their favorite artists to celebrate the start of a new year. On the revamped Sierra Stage, fans took in energetic and hyped sets from Lil Yachty, Snails, and Tyler Bennett, while the Igloo Tent bumped with performances from Sofi Tukker, Gavin Turek, LP Giobbi and others.
Day two of SnowGlobe 2016 brought another sunny, bluebird sky day, and highly-anticipated Main Stage sets from Major Lazer, Big Gigantic, and Lido. SnowGlobe-ers who arrived early caught Joyzu opening the Sierra Stage, which stayed packed with fans all day. At Marian Hill’s set later that evening, special guest Lauren Jauregui of 5th Harmony joined them onstage to perform their hit single “Back To Me.” Big Wild closed the stage with an unforgettable and high energy performance. Second Day highlights from the Igloo Tent included Justin Jay, Landis Lapace, and Masha.
By Saturday, December 31, revelers were ready to ring in the New Year in true SnowGlobe style. Rüfüs Du Sol, Baauer, and D.R.A.M. pumped-up the crowd at the Main Stage. Fans were treated to a special ‘Snow Session’ all-star jam featuring Emcees Del The Funky Homosapien, Andre Nickatina, Yukmouth, A-Plus, Rappin’ 4-Tay plus very special guests SJs AMP Live, Domino & DJ Aspect and hosted by Traxamillion. Poolside, Hotel Garuda, Bleep Bloop and Classixx kept the grooves going at the Sierra Stage and in the Igloo Tent. Acclaimed electronic duo ODESZA led SnowGlobe into the New Year with their stellar live set complete with a drumline, pyrotechnics and fireworks.
Welcome, 2017.
