This weekend The Travelin’ McCourys hit the Midwest with their popular touring festival – The Bluegrass Ball. For all 3 shows (Madison, Bloomington IN, and Chicago) they were joined by String Cheese Incident's Bill Nershi on guitar. The Bluegrass Ball was born out of the spirit of bluegrass festivals – the special memories made of impromptu jams and unscheduled collaborations. This was showcased at last night’s City Winery Chicago show as audience members were surprised when the band was joined by 3 very special guests; local Banjo hero Greg Cahill (banjo) of Special Consensus plus Chris Gangi (bass and mandolin) and Wavy Dave Burlingame (banjo) both of Cornmeal fame. The local picking talents were showcased on songs including “Love Please Come Home”, “High on the Mountain”, “Lonesome Rueben”, “Rollin In My Sweet Baby’s Arms, and “6 Days on the Road” among others.
