Sturgill Simpson adds shows in Huntsville, AL and Huntington, WV to extensive “Why Not? Tour”

Due to incredible demand, Sturgill Simpson has announced the addition of two new stops on his highly anticipated fall “Why Not? Tour.” The newly added dates include performances at The Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville, AL, on October 11, and Health Network Arena in Huntington, WV, on November 16. These “An Evening with Sturgill Simpson” concerts will be available for artist pre-sale starting Thursday, June 20 at 10:00 am local time (use code: STURGILL2024) with general on-sale commencing on Friday, June 21 at 10:00 am local time.

Simpson’s first full tour in over four years will feature an extensive headline run, showcasing Simpson and his talented band—Kevin Black (bass), Robbie Crowell (keys), Laur Joamets (guitar), and Miles Miller (drums). The tour includes immediately sold-out shows in major cities such as Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Chicago (two nights), Oklahoma City, Asheville, Cary, and Washington, DC, among many others. Tickets for all other dates are currently on sale via sturgillsimpsonlive.com. Please see the complete tour itinerary below.

Notably, the “Why Not? Tour” has opted out of using dynamic ticket pricing to ensure tickets remain accessible to fans and not scalpers. Measures to combat scalping include vetting pre-sale sign-ups for bad actors, implementing a Face Value Exchange (now live, FAQ available), and limiting platinum ticketing.

In a significant new chapter of his career, Simpson, who previously vowed to release only five studio albums under his own name, introduces Johnny Blue Skies and the upcoming album "Passage Du Desir." Set for release on July 12 on his independent label, High Top Mountain Records, the album features eight tracks produced by Johnny Blue Skies and David Ferguson, recorded at Clement House Recording Studio in Nashville, TN, and Abbey Road Studios in London, England. Pre-orders are available now.

This new release follows the recent tenth-anniversary reissue of Simpson’s breakthrough album "Metamodern Sounds in Country Music," originally released on May 13, 2014. The special edition reissue includes a reimagined album cover and vinyl package, pressed on 180g Black Vinyl with an “Old-Style” Tip-On Jacket. Celebrated for its impact on country music, "Metamodern Sounds in Country Music" continues to influence the genre. As Marissa Moss noted in Rolling Stone, “Ten years since its release, Simpson’s 2014 masterpiece Metamodern Sounds in Country Music continues to redefine what’s possible in Nashville.”

Since his debut, Simpson has released five full-length studio albums, earning widespread acclaim and accolades, including a Grammy Award in 2017 for Best Country Album and six Grammy nominations across four genres: country, rock, bluegrass, and Americana. Beyond his music career, Simpson has also made notable appearances in film and television, including roles in "The Dead Don’t Die," "Queen & Slim," "Killers of the Flower Moon," and "The Righteous Gemstones."
