THE WALCOTTS--an American Rock'n'Roll band that captivatingly distills roots music, soul, blues, and country--will release their debut full-length album LET THE DEVIL WIN Friday, September 16 on Local Hero Records via KOBALT/AWAL. The new 12-track album by the Los Angeles band will be issued digitally and physically in CD and vinyl formats. Watch a video teaser for LET THE DEVIL WIN here.
LET THE DEVIL WIN finds THE WALCOTTS--Tom Cusimano (Vocals/Guitar), Laura Marion (Vocals), Jim Olson (Drums) and Devin Shea (Violin)--planting one foot in the rootsy terrain of their influences and the other pointing toward the future. Armed with a large line-up, their sound is fueled by male-female vocal harmonies with the accompaniment of horns, pedal-steel, fiddle, and piano. With songs recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and Rami Jaffee's (The Wallflowers/Foo Fighters) private Fonogenic Studios in Los Angeles along with a co-written song with John Alagia--known for his work with Dave Matthews Band and John Mayer--the sound is unmistakably WALCOTTS: both familiar and fresh, old and new, fine-tuned and broadly appealing.
"On stage every musician looks forward to that rush--that perfect sense of being in the moment and locking in with your band mates--when the crowd reacts and everything just clicks!" says vocalist and guitarist Tom Cusimano of THE WALCOTTS. "All the things you've done, every note you've practiced, every song you've written, each show, session, tour, argument, etc, it has all lead to that moment...and that is why we do all this. It's all for those moments!"
Cusimano adds: "I feel like we're hitting one of those moments off stage as a band by releasing this album. In addition to the incredible tour opportunity we had with Chris Stapleton last fall, we've worked very hard since we started and have been very lucky so far with gigs, music placements, and all the great musicians we've played, recorded and toured with. All of these things are not lost on us, they have brought us here to this album, and we're ready to share it with the world! Here's hoping people like it!"
While the band draws inspiration from more than a half century's worth of American traditions, the music of THE WALCOTTS is contemporary and fresh. Having caught the ear of Chris andMorgane Stapleton, THE WALCOTTS were direct support on Stapleton's first West Coast tour in late 2015, a coveted opening slot that put them in front of thousands of music fans just days after the now legendary CMA Awards sweep.
Meanwhile, THE WALCOTTS will take the festival stage this year in San Diego at KAABOO (more information here).
Formed in 2012, THE WALCOTTS began spreading their music through multiple TV and film placements, while also earning a well-deserved rep as a powerful live act (with personnel growing as large as nine players on stage). They've opened dates for Steve Winwood, Chris Isaak and Honeyhoney before landing the above-mentioned Chris Stapleton West Coast tour. Live, THE WALCOTTS bring the nuances of their recorded material to life with every show--including recent gigs alongside LeeAnn Womack, Lindi Ortega, Kate Voegele and Men at Work's Colin Hay--building upward toward an explosion of horns, organ, guitar and dual vocals.
