Author and songwriter Zoe FitzGerald Carter will bring her original folk and American songs to Freight & Salvage for an intimate performance on March 22nd. Joining her on stage will be area musicians including percussionist and vocalist, Pam Delgado (Blame Sally), lead guitarist and vocalist Jeri Jones (Blame Sally), keyboardist and accordion player, Julie Wolf (Ani DiFranco) and bassist, Daniel Fabricant (Swept Away.) Wildfire Music premiered the video for Zoe’s latest single, “Like A Drum” from her 2021 release, Waterlines.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to the Freight & Salvage’s fabled stage next month,” enthuses the songwriter. “So many iconic musicians have played there that it feels like a special honor -- and I’m especially excited to be headlining there for the first time. The show will feature songs from my recently released solo album, Waterlines, as well as new music written during lockdown.”

“Joining me on March 22nd are two longtime Freight favorites: Pam Delgado (percussion and vocals), and Jeri Jones (lead guitar and vocals) both from the band Blame Sally,” continues Zoe. “We’ll also be joined by Daniel Fabricant, who has been called ‘the most versatile bass player in San Francisco’ and is currently part of the musical ensemble at Berkeley Rep’s Swept Away. And finally, sitting in on a handful of songs, the inimitable Julie Wolf, on accordion and keys. Julie has played with everyone from Ani DiFranco to Carly Simon to Sia, and I was thrilled to have her play on my album and can’t wait to perform with her. I couldn’t be more proud and excited about this crew of fabulous musicians and am counting down the days until the gig!”

Zoe began playing guitar and singing as a teenager in Washington D.C. where her father was a well-known jazz drummer. In addition to her career as a writer, she’s played and performed with numerous Bay Area bands. Her first album (Waiting for the Earthquake) featured Sugartown, an Americana string band. “The album’s direct and piercing lyrics pull no punches and it’s haunting melodies are perfectly suited to Zoe’s rich and evocative voice,” said award-winning producer, Monica Pasqual.  Zoe teaches memoir and songwriting and has recently taken up the drums.
