It was a great night in Bearsville. I love the new stage lighting rigs. White lights are my friend! It's always a pleasure to see Larry & Teresa play in a relaxed hometown atmosphere. Everyone gets to go home, no hotel beds. Larry & Teresa told some funny stories. Larry has been in Woodstock since 1978, and it seems several guests visited them backstage and according to Teresa, may or may not have included some of his old history. They shared recollections of their many interactions within the local Woodstock music talent community, especially Levon Helm, and too many others to list here. Teresa sang a beautiful version of 'Long Black Veil' first taught to her by her father in the style of Johnny Cash and played last night more closely to The Band's Big Pink arrangement. The first encore, 'Attics of My Life', was dedicated, very poignantly to Phil Lesh. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. The second encore, Teresa's powerful version of the Blind Willie Johnson/Reverend Gary Davis attributed composition, 'Keep Your Lamps Trimmed & Burning'. Teresa owns the song and she can sing it like no one else. Everyone went home happy.
