The Canadian jam band Days of You has gone back to the studio to record their first album in 10 years. While release is not due until March 2013. The first 5 singles are available via their website.The band sends a mixed signal with the songs that are currently available. "Waves" and "Anyway Way the Wind Blows" seem to fall out of the traditional jam band sound and roll into a more Pop Rock sound.

The only detractor to using the word jazz to describe a genre of music that is too many different progressions have made it useless as an adjective. What does it mean when something is “jazzy”? Many would here a walking bass line accompanied by swinging guitar licks and a brass section leading a melody. Others might think of Flamenco, Indian sitar styling, or Bluegrass. Many fans prefer the Modal or Cool sound and the artists of that classic period.

It’s no surprise that John Lee Hooker Jr. has some big shoes to fill. The son of the incomparable bluesman John Lee Hooker Sr., Hooker Jr. has been out to make a name for himself as more than “the son of a blues great.” It’s hard to escape though, and in the end Hooker Jr. is fine with embracing his roots.
